Promote Petaluma as a "business friendly" community.
The city needs to encourage businesses to come to Petaluma. They could promote Petaluma as a "business friendly" location and recruit businesses to come here and see what we have to offer in the same manner they promote tourism. There currently is a number of empty office and/or potential commercial spaces in town. The city should be engaging landlords, businesses and our own city staff to see what can be done to achieve a three-way partnership where businesses can find the business friendly community they desire, with housing and recreational facilities and activities for their employees; where landlords can provide fair, current market rents to occupy their presently unoccupied or under occupied spaces; and the city can begin receiving tax revenues from these newly acquire businesses and commercial venues.
