Robert Bernardo has lived in San Mateo County for 35 years, having attended public elementary schools in Pacifica, Daly City and South San Francisco and high school in San Mateo. During these tough times, it's important to elect a Harbor Commissioner who has the background and work experience to keep the Harbor District on course. Robert works full time as a manager at the Port of Oakland, the 5th largest seaport in the United States, and he also serves as a Planning Commissioner Vice Chairman for the City of South San Francisco. His work at the Port of Oakland provides him with a global perspective on the maritime industry, and his Planning Commission experience gives him a strong understanding of complex land use, zoning and development issues. If elected, Robert will work to strengthen the Harbor District's financial condition by developing a strategic economic recovery plan which includes:
1. Reducing the District's $10 million debt by taking advantage of interest rates that are at historic lows Robert's community service and volunteer work spans decades on key issues such as water transit, education, healthcare, and public safety.
