City leaders and department chiefs recognize the dire conditions of the current local and national economies. The downturn in consumer spending combined with on-going fixed expenses and lost tax revenues have created a budget deficit that all city departments must answer to. Priorities for spending goals established in prosperous times need to be realigned to the current budget restraints. The time of lavish consumption has been interrupted and city departments need to realign budgeting to meet current limited resources. |
