Mayor of the City of Manteca

By Willie W. Weatherford

Candidate for Mayor; City of Manteca

This information is provided by the candidate
"Manteca deserves a Mayor who can build teamwork and trust between the City Council and Citizens of our Community."
As Mayor for the last eight years I have worked to move our community forward in a positive direction. We have expanded the economic base with the addition of new businesses centers; Spreckels Park Commercial and Retail Center, Bass Pro and Penneys, the retail center at Big League Dreams with more to come. This has meant thousands of new jobs and revenue for Police, Fire and Recreation. We have opened two major parks that provide recreation for our youth and adults.

We are in the planning stages of the Austin Road Business Park and the Center Point Distribution Center. These two projects will provide more than a thousand new head of family jobs.

I have been involved as has my wife, Sherilyn, in community activities. I have served as District Chairman for the Boy Scouts; President of the Board of Directors for the Manteca Boys and Girls Club; President of the Church Council of United Lutheran; President of the Manteca Kiwanis Club; and the Board of Directors of ESKATON (Independent living for senion citizens).

Goals for the future: Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. The economy is the most pressing issue confronting Manteca, California and the Nation. We at the local level must continue to look at ways to reduce the cost of Business. This means we must continue to deduce or eliminate fees that prohibit the opening of new businesses or the expanding of existing businesses.

I have the experience and the love of community to serve...
