Carolyn Jensen's 10 Top PrioritiesBy Carolyn S. JensenCandidate for Council Member; City of Ripon | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I feel that the top issues that need to be addressed in Ripon are a fiscally strong sustainable city budget, restoring street and park maintenance, ample parking and lighting for a viable downtown, securing safety, services and activities for our youth and seniors. I propose the following to enhance our community's quality of life.1. In depth review of City finances to determine needed changes to insure fiscally strong city budget. Look for grants and funding that will enhance city's ability to provide needed services and infrastruture. 2. Revitalize Ripon Youth Center on Main Street that was closed, providing more youth services and activites to keep our children safe and healthy. 3. Restore Senior Center budget allocation so no senior services or activities will be eliminated because of city budget cuts. 4. Address Senior transporation needs and provide other community services. 5. Foster an open and inclusive community communication and promote community participation in the government of our city. 6. Form partnerships with local nonprofit organizations, school district, public agencies, and private businesses to maximize the community benefit. 7. Providing ample parking and lighting downtown for safety of pedestrians and enable downtown businesses to prosper. 8. Restore streets and parks maintenance and continue to improve streets, parking and roadways to have safe and reliable citywide transportation system. 9. Well planned controlled growth that recognizes and preserves open space, environmental habitats and agricultural land with housing opportunities for all income levels. 10. Continue to protect the character of our heritage neighborhoods, downtown business district, agriculture economy and open spaces that make Ripon unique. |
