Born & raised in Stockton, Sara is a product of SUSD schools. From SUSD's Franklin HS '82, Sara attended Harvard University, earning her B.A. degree. Quality public education is the great equalizer in America and critical if our young people are to have hope for a better future. Sara is the parent of one SUSD graduate and one current SUSD student. She has been active at their schools including Rio Calaveras, Chavez HS and Franklin HS IB. She received the 2006 and 2007 SUSD Volunteer of the Year Award for her involvement at Chavez HS. She remains actively involved with Franklin HS IB Boosters. Sara has experience teaching private school, working in Kinder, 1st and teaching 3rd grade for 2 years. As a parent and Stocktonian that benefited from a quality SUSD education, Sara believes SUSD can, and should, work for all our students. She is deeply committed to serving all students by making SUSD successful for them. She also has been active with our area elected officials and their staffers, many who have endorsed her campaign for SUSD School Board. A great advocate for public education, Sara is committed to seek funding for SUSD schools and the realization of safe successful community schools that lift up all SUSD students. A shared vision of quality education for all SUSD students with respect for the collaboration of all school site stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff will help us turn SUSD around, for our kids and for Stockton's future. This belief is Sara's only motivation in seeking to serve as SUSD, Area 6 Board of Trustee.
