Human Rights

By Barbara Ann Berwick

Candidate for Board of Supervisors; San Francisco County; District 2

This information is provided by the candidate
SF has done well but is limited in making progress by State Law. Promote Human Rights via all means available.
I want to have the City ask our state law makers to pass legislation that would enable our Human Rights Commission to suspend a business license for a day with a sign across a business that says "Business License Suspended by order of the Human Rights Commission". This would occur after a third and each subsequent adverse finding based on a preponderance of the evidence standard by the commission. I want to place a $10,000 bounty of Rohypnol (the date rape drug). I want to encourage picketing of businesses that engage in discrimination on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender.
Prostitution laws should not be enforced, however, prostitution should be regulated just as other businesses are regulated.
