I have lived in Poway at the same address for 40 years. My two adult children went through the Poway Unified School system. My twenty-five year professional career was dedicated to serving community college students, first as a faculty member and then as a dean and Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Grossmont College. I have served Palomar College as a member of the Governing Board, including three terms as President, for the past twelve years. I attended Pasadena City College. There, as a first generation college student, I learned that the doors to higher education were open to me. I went on to earn both my Bachelors and Masters degrees at San Diego State University and was awarded a Kellogg Fellowship to pursue my doctorate in Community College Leadership from the University of Texas, Austin. I started teaching at Grossmont College in 1974 as a part-time instructor. I received an appointment as a full-time member of the Child Development Faculty in 1975. I served Grossmont College in the following positions: Faculty, Child Development, Dean, Business and Vocational Education, Dean, Humanities and International Education, Dean, Communication and Fine Arts, and Vice-President, Academic Affairs |
