Candidate for
Board Member; San Pasqual Union Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I am a long time resident (1986) of Northern San Diego County, and have lived in Escondido continuously since 1991. My wife Theresa and I raised our two sons in the Valley, both boys thrived at SPU, and each has excelled at the next level. The educational foundation provided at SPU is a prime reason why our boys have been so successful.

I have practiced law in San Diego County since 1993, with principal focus upon advising local government agencies ("Special Districts" similar to SPUSD) as General Counsel on a variety of matters. I've been extensively involved in the community in a variety of contexts, serving the local recreational youth sports (E.N.L.L. and City programs) as a volunteer coach and assistant, youth theater program (the orginal "Arts Off Broadway" organization, now known as Broadway Theater Arts Academy), as a District delegate and ad Hoc committee chairman for the RSP Homeowners Association, as well as for more regional projects such as the County Superior Court (as a Judge ProTem and as an arbitrator) and the North County Lifeline legal Clinic.

I have served on the School Board since 2007, and have had the privilege and challenge of helping to navigate the District through a difficult fiscal crisis, and help the District maintain continuity through the untimely passing of its Superintendent in the Summer, 2009. The District has risen to those challenges, but the job of getting through the fiscal crisis is not complete. We need to finish it, and ensure that the District comes through this difficult time intact and able to continue providing the outstanding service levels to which our community has grown accustomed. I ask for your vote of confidence, your vote, and for the opportunity to continue to represent the District on your behalf.
