Change is good... Students: All students should improve on Standardized Test Scores. It is important to focus on student achievement in order for students to move forward in a positive direction.
Students need to be exposed to after school community service. There are many ways in which the community can work with students in order to establish relationships and students can learn about helping their community.
I believe technology should be visible and working in every classroom. Every child is important therefore every child should have access to a computer or a computer tool. In order for students to stay ahead in our world of advanced technology, they need to use technology as much as possible.
I want to see schools where children feel safe. District student surveys show that many students feel unsafe while attending schools. A partnership with our police department and our schools would promote safer schools. Teachers: I want to listen and respond to teachers suggestions and concerns. The morale issue between the district and teachers needs plenty of work. Teachers need to be able to express their opinions to board members and teachers need to be respected.
I support the issue of class size reduction. It is important for teachers to make connections with every child.
Effective workshops need to be a priority for our teachers. Time is precious. The more a teacher is out of the classroom, the less time a child has with their teacher. Workshops need to be centered around the best teaching practices. The teachers at the EUSD have just as much expertise as the costly consultants the district is recruiting.
The safety and discipline issues in our schools needs to be addressed. A teacher's job is to teach. They should not be worrying about safety and discipline. Our schools need a partnership with our whole school community and the police department. Parents: I feel effective parent committees are essential for parents. Many times parents are not provided with the right answers to their questions or they are turned away. Parent committees should provide quality information.
Every parent should feel secure when they send their child to school. All schools should be a safe, learning environment. Community: I am willing to view the information on "Unification". This issue is one that needs to be discussed with both districts and the community.
The improvement of all campus sites should be ongoing. Our schools belong to our community and they should reflect the beautiful city we live in. |
