I am currently employed at the San Diego County Water Authority and I have worked in Escondido for the past 11 years as a Senior Electrical/ Electronics Technician. Both of my sons have attended Escondido schools, so I have experienced both school districts In Escondido. My oldest son is now in college and my youngest son is a junior at Escondido High School. I regularly attend school board meetings at both districts in Escondido, so I have a good understanding of the issues from various perspectives--first, from the perspective of a parent and from the perspective of the spouse of a teacher and finally I can relate to the issues from the perspective of the board members, as well. My wife has been a middle school teacher for 14 years now and I am well aware of the challenges she faces daily. I have also previously worked for the Vista Unified and San Diego City Schools for 11 years, so my commitment to being involved in public education has been long-term.

Some of my relevant experience includes serving as the Chairman of the 2008 and 2010 North County Parent Conference, working in conjunction with the San Diego County Office of Education and all the school districts in North County. I served as president of the EUSD Parent Advisory Committee from 2007 to 2008 and I am currently a member of the Escondido High School's Parent Club. I am a past president of CLA Toastmasters International and I am a committee member for the Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee (Prop T) at the EUHSD.

I am an active and responsible parent in my community. I believe our schools must be safe, maintain excellent learning environments and high academic achievement for ALL students. I enjoy working respectfully with teachers, parents, school administration, and community members and I have developed good communication with each of these groups. The issues and problems currently facing public schools are complex and multiple perspectives are needed in order to effectively address them. I will bring a fresh perspective to the board.
