A college education needs to be the minimum.
We need to raise our academic standards and expectaions for all students. The opportunities in life and in the world are far better for a person with a college degree than one without. The drop-out rate is a reflection of our community. Our students need to be encouraged and shown the value and importance of a college education, regardless of the path they choose in life. College will open a students mind and expose him or her to a world much different than what they are used to. They will have an environment to explore their gifts and interests. They will improve their abilities to communicate and see the world with a broader perspective. We can not allow the expence or lack of interest deter us from encouraging every child to believe that a college education is within their reach. We want educated people in our community. Our children are the future of our community.
