By Barbara Ann (Filippi) Nunes

Candidate for Board Member; Fremont Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Barbara has been a knowledgeable and effective Board Member
As a former teacher, retired principal and current board member Barbara is proud to have contributed to the continued success of the Fremont Union High School District's award winning schools.

Barbara's priority during these lean economic times has been to maintain a seven period day with a variety of course offerings for students. Her decisions during the last eight years have been based on her strong desire to listen to input from our diverse community through involvement in numerous community organizations,

Some challenges ahead include--monitoring our fiscal responsibility in dealing with uncertain instructional funding and oversight of facility upgrades, ensuring good use of taxpayer dollars, while focusing on future student needs.

Barbara pledges to help the Board focus on making our schools responsive to the needs of all students by encouraging high achievers to reach their potential, while supporting the different needs of all students to become contributing and productive members of the community and society. As funding becomes available Barbara also pledges to use the funds to address priorities, to continue to employ and retain highly quailified staff and reinstate or create programs that best prepare our students for post-secondary options.
