Christine Ellen Koltermann Ballot Statement

By Christine Ellen "Chris" Koltermann, Ph.D.

Candidate for Trustee; Santa Clara Unified School District; Trustee Area 2

This information is provided by the candidate
Santa Clara Unified families need improved access to robust and varied educational options. We need earlier intervention for struggling students, more challenging opportunities for high-performing students, and greater emphasis on basic reading, writing and math skills. Together we can narrow our persistent achievement gap and increase graduation rates.

As a Santa Clara businesswoman with a Stanford Ph.D. in Hydrogeology, I will provide a model for students to study math and science. As a parent who volunteered over 2000 hours in our District's classrooms helping students learn science, math and reading, I will encourage the dedicated parent involvement our kids need. As a Santa Clara homeowner, married 31 years, with a pre-teen and a teenager, I understand how school quality impacts lifelong success, safe neighborhoods and property values.

Our District faces challenging times. Our Community must come together to provide robust public education that meets every child's needs. We must spend every penny wisely, supporting teachers and staff, broadening academic and vocational opportunities, maintaining sports and extracurricular activities, and narrowing our achievement gap.

Please vote for fiscal responsibility, administrative accountability, educational choices, retaining teachers and staff, and transparency in governance. Please vote for Dr. Christine Koltermann. http://www.chriskoltermann.com
