Born and raised in Massachusetts, I spent summers winning sailing championships in Buzzards Bay. Now, I sail in San Francisco Bay. My relocation to the Bay Area came via a stint in Oregon where I received my Master of Architecture followed by work with San Francisco architecture firms. Although I loved living in the city, there was an opportunity to come to Campbell as the RDA project manager for the Downtown Streetscape Project which converted Campbell Ave back to two-way traffic and constructed both Ainsley Park and the Orchard City Green. I found Campbell a community committed to its heritage and quality of life. My connection with Campbell took root with the "Great Gatsby Event" in 1991, a benefit for the newly relocated Ainsley House. Volunteering on the Ainsley House and Historical Museum Board and for fundraisers, joining the Country Women's Club and chairing the successful `Save Our Library Campaign' followed. I am currently serving my 14th year as a Planning Commissioner; my third time as Chair. A licensed California Architect, I have more than 30 years of business experience. I am currently an Associate with a San Jose firm where my work as Project Manager covers master planning, design and construction of Community Colleges. Previously, as a sole-proprietor firm, I had Silicon Valley Fortune Five-hundred and pre-IPO company clients. I serve as a community member on the Facilities Committee of the San Jose Museum of Art. I volunteer with Rebuilding Together, recently helping to refurbish a veteran's home. Over several years, I volunteered with S4CA in San Jose's Yerba Buena High School, working with students interested in architecture and engineering. Our project was to design a playhouse structure for the JW House at Kaiser Santa Clara. In 2008, I was designated a "Woman of Influence in Santa Clara Valley". I am currently completing my tenure as past-President of the American Institute of Architects Santa Clara Valley Chapter. During this time, I served two years on the board of the American Institute of Architecture California Council. In the latter role, I participated in legislative meetings and spoke against applying sales tax to professional services. My core skill is working with people to define the problem and identify a range of solutions with criteria for decision-making. With their approval, I manage the implementation of the selected solution. |
