Candidate for
Board Member; Saratoga Union School District; 4 Year Term

My husband, John, and I have lived in Saratoga, California for over ten years. We moved to this area primarily because of the excellent reputation of the public schools. We have had four children attend Saratoga schools. Currently we have two sons attending the University of California at Berkeley and two daughters at Saratoga High School. I know firsthand the wonderful educational experiences our public school provide.

Having school-age children has given me ample opportunity to volunteer through different organizations since 2001. I have had leadership roles in the Argonaut Elementary PTA, the Redwood Middle School PTA, the Saratoga Music Boosters, the Saratoga Education Foundation, and the Saratoga High School PTSO.

Five years ago, I returned to school and completed the Multiple Subject Credential with Bilingual, Cross-cultural, Language, and Academic Development (BCLAD) Emphasis from San Jose State University. This allowed me to work in the Saratoga Union School District as an English Learners Instructional Aid at Argonaut Elementary and Saratoga Elementary as well as teach Spanish at Redwood Middle School from 2006-2008.

In April of this year, I was appointed to the Saratoga Union School Board after an unexpected vacancy. My involvement with the district as a parent, volunteer, former employee and current Governing Board Member gives me a unique perspective on the importance and consequences decisions have on our community, parents, teachers, administrators, and most importantly, our students. I look forward to continuing my service as a School Board Member.
