Political Philosophy for Charlotte Boisvert-Khandelwal
Candidate for |
I've spent the last 5 years working to raise money for our schools, networking, researching programs and best practices in the valley and around the country. I will never stop fighting for quality programs for our kids so they have access to those resources on the mountain and can leave our mountain prepared to succeed at high school. I believe in attracting and retain talented teachers, giving them the resources they need, providing aide when necessary and staying out of their way so they can achieve great things. I believe we need to secure a sustainable funding model that still provides a quality program. We're facing a $400,000 budget shortfall in our district with no current plan from our school board to reconcile that delta. After the failure of our parcel tax in May, our board did not take the next steps to evaluate how else to secure that funding. I will dedicate myself to representing parent concerns and interests and trying to provide more communication about the state of our district beyond the parent base. I'm not "Waiting for Superman" - I'm trying to get citizens involved NOW to maintain our schools and work to continue to improve them |
