? 1. What experience and training would you bring to this office?

Answer from Angie M. Cardoza:

I have raised two children, and understand the education challenges from the inside (as a parent), and outside (as an investigator on the Civil Grand Jury and as a long term small business owner/operator).

As a business owner in our community, I understand what it takes to run a successful operation which is efficient and keeps spending in check. I also know what skills that businesses are looking for in new graduates. I believe I can also leverage my business contacts in the community to work together with the COE, K-12, and Community Colleges to help close the acheivement gap.

When I was on the Civil Grand Jury, concerns raised often led our investigations to uncover cases of questionable, excessive, and redundant spending within the County. I would bring the same thorough analysis to the COE board and expertise on how to scrutinize spending practices and improve services.

? 2. What changes if any would you recommend in the county's special education program?

Answer from Angie M. Cardoza:

No changes recommended but we need to ensure we maintain the programs that are truly needed by the community.

? 3. What should be the role of the County Board of Education in regard to charter schools?

Answer from Angie M. Cardoza:

The Board should review that charter schools follow and meet the required criteria, and are set up for success.
