AccountabilityBy John H. Pruitt, Jr.Candidate for Member, Governing Board; Chino Valley Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I believe focus and accountability are keys to upgrading our district from the program improvement status! The superintendent must direct the staff and administrators to focus on the issue of program improvement; and be held accountable. The school board should hold the superintendent accountable for the overall improvement and successful upgrade of our district. I have always been a supporter of raising the standards. In 1991, my daughter entered the ninth grade at Chino High School. It was the first time my children attended a public school. They were in private Christian schools! I was absolutely shocked at the lack of academics! I started then pushing to raise the standards for accountability of student academics. The district (now)has a 2.0 GPA requirement for graduation. I started on that campaign in 1991 and the board (and I was a board member) approved the 2.0 GPA for graduation in 2006. It took 15 years!! |
