My background and qualifications to serve as a Trustee of SBCC are:

• Mayor of the City of Santa Barbara, 2002-2010
• Co-chair Sustainability Task Force, US Conference of Mayors
• Member of the Mayors for Peace
• Santa Barbara City Council Member. 1996-2002
• City Planning Commissioner, 1990-1996
• Taught school at Roosevelt Elementary School for 13 years
• Served as President of the Santa Barbara Teachers Association
• JD degree, Loyola Marymount Law School, admitted to the CA bar, practiced law for six years on State Street, named a Distinguished Alumni,
• MA in math and education from UCLA,
• BA in math and education from Purdue University,
• Active with my three childrens' Santa Barbara schools, including SBCC,
• President, Santa Barbara League of Women Voters for four years,
• Member of numerous boards, including Environmental Defense Center and Elings Regional Park.
