Mr. Short has over 20 years of successful experience in all aspects of the construction industry--private residential, commercial, municipal utility and public works projects. As a private municipal consultant, Mr. Short has served as a Public Works Director/City Engineer/Building Official/Regional Code Compliance Manager. Mr. Short has over 18 years of experience in building inspection and plan check, including thirteen years of management/supervisory experience and approximately 11 years of managing Plans and Permit Offices with up to 50 plus employees. Mr. Short is a graduate of UC Davis with a B.S. degree in engineering with an emphasis on building design, College of Sequoias with an A.A. in Architecture/Engineering, American River College with an A.A. in engineering, Masters in Governance CSBA and is a licensed Professional Engineer in California. Mr. Short started his work experience in the trades as an assistant plumber, then as a structural & mechanical draftsman/designer, progressed into carpentry, landscape architecture, and design & construction of electrical distribution systems for SMUD. After graduating, he worked at Sacramento County's Building Design, Construction Inspection, Traffic Operation, and Building Inspection Divisions, where, among other duties, he served as acting Rancho Cordova Building Official and managed the Plans and Permit offices. He was employed by the County of Sacramento for 16 plus years. He then continued his career as a private consulting engineer in the municipal services industry for small to large corporations, where he has obtained extensive experience in business development, managing building inspectors, engineers and plan examiners in the regulatory compliance field for many years. During the last decade Mr. Short has been involved in many community activities while he worked in his career as a professional engineer. The following has been his Civil involvement; presently serving his second term on the Folsom Cordova Unified School District Governing Board and has served as President Board Member, Measure N Steering Committee, Measure B Oversight Committee, California School Boards Association, Rancho Cordova City hood Campaign, Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce Board, Congressional Recognized Honorary Vice Mayor of Rancho Cordova Community Council, Member of the Sacramento Tax League, Home Owner's Association Board, Friends of Mather Regional Park Board. |
