Political Philosophy for Genevieve A. Shiroma
Candidate for |

|
Here is my ballot statement: In June, we rejected PG&E's special interest $50 million power-grab initiative, Proposition 16. Your vote kept SMUD strong and reliable, our rates low, and service high. As our not-for-profit, community owned electric utility, SMUD is financially sound and rates are 25% below PG&E. We are increasing our renewable energy + solar, wind, and hydro - and reducing global warming. For the 9th year in a row, JD Powers rated SMUD #1 in California for customer satisfaction. We are bringing $160 million in federal stimulus dollars to Sacramento's economy - money to invest in our smart grid, the solar highway and for energy audits and rebates. SMUD's free shade tree program has planted over 450,000 trees in the Sacramento community. Those trees provide cooling shade during the hot summer days, produce oxygen, and help to clean the air we breathe. I worked for over 20 years as an air quality engineer, served the community for many years, and volunteered to protect neighborhoods. I appreciate the chance to continue to serve you. Thank you for your consideration. |
