I have lived in Citrus Heights for 26 years. For many years I was involved with the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce as a board member, president and then hired to be the CEO. I served in that capacity for 12 years. My crowning achievement while working at the chamber was creating Leadership Citrus Heights, a 9 month educational program providing community and leadership training. I was involved with the effort to incorporate Citrus Heights. I co-chaired the Yes on Measure R campaign in 1996. We won and became the first city to incorporate in Sacramento County in 50 years. I ran for city council in 2002 to fill an open seat, at the urging of several council members. I was successful and ran again in 2006. I served as mayor in 2006 and as vice mayor in 2005 & 2010. I have represented the city on several regional boards, including both sanitation districts, and SACOG. I was instrumental in getting the Sayonara Community Center started for kids who live on and near Sayonara, and the Sylvan Oaks Community Garden. I serve as a charter board member of the Citrus Heights Police Activities League and I guest teach at Mesa Verde High School Business Academy every year. I attend Valley Springs Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Trustees for 6 years, serving as president for 2 years. I am a member of the Citrus Heights Rotary Club and served as president in 1999-2000. I have 2 grown sons and 4 fabulous grandchildren. |
