Cari Dawson Bartley is a small businesswoman, a mom and a whirlwind of energy.

She was born in Germany, while her father was serving in the United States Army during the Cold War. Cari has fond memories of watching him graduate from Oregon State University, which he attended on the G.I. Bill while still serving first in the National Guard and later in the Army Reserves.

Cari and her siblings graduated from high school in Washington State, and she was an early enrollee in the "early college high school" movement which today allows students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously. She is a product of the community college system, having graduated from Spokane Falls Community College with an A.A.S. degree in Visual Media Technology.

With family history and relatives in the Sierra Foothills and Northern California going back three generations, she has lived here with her husband Robert and daughter Paige for over a decade.

Much of her career has been in small entrepreneurial media businesses, including time as a freelance designer, and as co-owner and operator of a newspaper company. Currently she is Executive Editor of a media content syndicate that serves newspapers, magazines, websites and other media outlets across the United States and around the world. She has been involved in volunteer work for local clubs and charities, and has attended adult education classes at Sierra College as well.

Cari has been married for 24 years to husband Robert Bartley, an analyst for the California State University system. Their daughter Paige, who attended Auburn schools and graduated from Placer High School, is now a senior at Duke University in North Carolina.

She believes in the quality of life we enjoy in this area and believes that quality education is one of the critical ways we can sustain it.

In her spare time, Cari is an accomplished artist, avid reader and enjoys the great outdoors in her back yard or in the Sierra, and loves spending time with her family, friends and her two golden retrievers.
