"Let us prepare our children to be successful adults"We do not have cookie cutter children, where we can expect every child to fit a predetermined mold or to travel the same educational path. Even though I am committed to making every child college eligible, the reality is upon graduation some of our graduating seniors find themselves not interested, not ready, or not eligible for college. These students will now ask the question, "What do I do next? Our goals as educators should be to prepare our children to be successful adults; we can achieve this by creating an environment that allows kids to explore career options that are aligned with their interest. I believe we can foster this ideal by:
1.Adding a career development and job training program to the Middle /Jr. High school level that carries on through High school Building Financial Literacy, students need to know how to prioritize their financial goals before they graduate from high school in order for them not to find themselves in debt within a year of their graduation. |
