Reinventing Government

By Sam Toles

Candidate for Council Member; City of Cathedral City

This information is provided by the candidate
It is fitting that our city holds non-partisan elections. We need to think not in terms of Democrat vs Republican, but use the best ideas from all ends of the political spectrum to refresh the way our city operates.
I will work with a newly elected Council to:
-Balance the budget:

A line-by-line review of the budget. Additional cuts, where possible. Look for innovative ways to generate additional revenues without additional taxes. Bring us 'back into the black.'

-Create a clear plan for growth:

With 1, 3, and 5 year objectives that are clearly defined. An open, annual review process that tracks progress.

-Strengthen Public Safety

Provide our Police and Fire department with the tools and equipment to keep our community safe. Expand and enhance our neighborhood watch programs.

- We must also use new technology, bringing our city functions into the new millenium.

Evaluate what government functions can be streamlined by being brought online. Focus on empowering and sharing responsibility with city vendors and local businesses.

Through 21st century efficiency we will create a more responsive, business friendly environment, grow our economy, and cut wasteful spending.
