"Together Anything is Possible"By Ben GodfreyCandidate for Council Member; City of Indio | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
It hardly seems possible that thirteen years have past since you first elected me to the Indio City Council. It has been my honor and privilege to serve our community. For those thirteen years, I thank you for your support. Much has been accomplished, yet there is much more to do. During my time on the council, I have had the opportunity to address positive change and foster relationships with residents and businesspeople. With your help, we have improved over seventy-five miles of streets, constructed four main bridges, created quality housing and restored every city park. We have doubled our water delivery system, built three multi-million gallon reservoirs, drilled several wells, upgraded pipelines city wide and built the Public Works and Water Authority headquarters to better serve the needs of our growing community. We created and built state of the art facilities for our seniors and teens providing multiple programs to better serve their needs. My support for the future development and expansion of our Historic Cultural Museum and the 1909 Schoolhouse remains strong. The creation of The Indio Performing Arts Center, in Old Town, provides an outlet for the creativity of our citizens, young and old. Jobs are the battle cry for Indio's future. A bold, aggressive economic development plan must include improving the cost effectiveness of government, encouraging new residential, commercial and light industry while producing jobs and generating revenue. Our plan includes clean, green industries while taking advantage of the benefits the Enterprise and Empowerment zones offer new businesses. New retail opportunities continue to open in our Target and Home Depot centers. Two new hotels are on the horizon. I pledge to maintain the highest level of public safety and community service programs. Police, fire and paramedics must keep pace with the dynamic growth of our city. Two new fire stations have been built. The national economy has slowed our local growth, however Indio still moves forward. Together, we must address our current challenges while keeping Indio on track to be a great place to live, work and raise a family. With the advent of the new College of the Desert campus and Transit Center, Indio will join the Justice Center to become the seat of laws, education and travel serving the entire Coachella Valley. If you believe that my presence on the city council, as well as my background in architecture and land planning, has been a positive influence of leadership and vision, I would greatly appreciate your promoting my re-election to the most possible voters. Remember to vote on November 2nd and claim victory for Ben Godfrey and the City of Indio. |
