Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Emanuel Patrascu

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Laguna Beach

My philosophy

All citizens have the liberty and equal opportunity under the law to achieve personal security and happiness - without undue governmental constraint, taxation and oppression. For centuries now, tens of millions of people - representing the world's boldest, entrepreneurial-minded risk takers - have left their birth nations for the United States in pursuit of the American Dream. Likewise, successive generations of native-born Americans continue to add their own accomplishments to those of their forebears.

To me, the American Dream is premised on the idea that the nation as a whole is healthiest and strongest when as many of its people as possible are successful or on the road to success. In the United States, we all benefit from the success of our neighbor - regardless of race, ethnicity or religion. Conversely, the growth of the whole creates further opportunities for hard-working individuals and families. As the saying goes, "A rising tide lifts all ships."

Our Partnership

I see you and me in a partnership. Your part is to take your version of the American Dream and use our system's liberties and opportunities to achieve it. As your representative, my job will be to protect and expand those liberties and opportunities. That is why I support public policies that encourage investment and entrepreneurship. That is why I support policies that support job creation and small business owners. We must change the status quo and allow Laguna Beach to enjoy the prosperity it deserves. The bottom line is that you and I are in this endeavor together. With your support, we will be partners.
