Candidate for
Council Member; City of Anaheim

This information is provided by the candidate

I have lived in Anaheim for 17 years now, and share a home with my wonderful wife Amy and our daughter. I love our remarkable city. It's a large city, a world-class destination with our Resort and sports venues. Yet, in many ways, it's also still a small town, with good people who care about their neighborhoods, people who choose of their own accord to make a difference in their community.

I try to be one of those neighbors. My dad, a Pearl Harbor survivor, worked hard to raise me to understand the value of what we have. Like him, I don't do things for the recognition; I do them because it's the right thing to do. So you will not find my name on a list of Boards and Commissions. I am simply the quiet neighbor who wants to make things better. I've always tried to be involved in my community, going on ride-alongs with our fine Police Department, painting out graffiti, trying to make that difference.

I served my country honorably in the Army, in the 101st Airborne Division, earning two Army Achievement Medals while on active duty. I followed that with a 25-year career in aviation, as an aircraft technician, working on both military and commercial aircraft, putting my college degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology to good use. I never forgot that lives depended on my work every day. I've continued to support our military, and was nominated by the American Legion for the "U.S. Army Freedom Team Salute Award" for patriotism and continued support of the Army family in 2008.

I served on the Kaleidoscope Condominium Homeowners Association Board of Directors for two years in the mid '90s. In that role, I took part in negotiations between the Association, Disney, and the city to ensure that the building of Downtown Disney and California Adventure was beneficial to everyone in the neighborhood.

For the past 12 years, I've been a small businessman. My friends call me cheap, but I like to call myself "fiscally conservative," both personally and as a registered Republican, in my view of how government + limited government + should run.

I'm running for City Council because I truly care about my neighborhood, this city, and the future of Anaheim's growth. I don't believe for a minute that government can solve all the social ills America faces, but local governments can work together through partnerships with schools, businesses, organizations, and volunteers to make a difference. Anaheim is a great city with much to offer. Our current city officials say they are "freedom friendly," but that has meant our neighborhoods and infrastructure have been "free" to deteriorate. That has negatively affected our quality of life all over the City and helped keep Anaheim's unemployment rate high. Let's work together to tilt the system back in our favor. By improving the quality of our City, we can attract businesses and jobs, and be proud of where we live. Please stand with me. I need your help because I can't do it alone. Let's work together to make Anaheim the best place possible to live, work, and visit.
