Official Ballot Candidate Statement

The official statement is an important investment for a candidate. The money spent by my campaign gives you, the voter, an opportunity to learn something about me and where I stand on the issues by simply reading your voter pamphlet. I have added my official candidate statement from your voting pamphlet to my website. Openness is an important attribute in someone asking for your vote.

OCCUPATION: Governing Board Member, Trustee Area One, Coast Community College District

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Trustee. As Board President I ensured quality of education and administration. I pledge to further improve and build our District into the best it can be. Your support makes certain my work continues.

Because of severe state cuts to education, I have been vigilant in keeping the District's spending in line to keep the doors open for our students. I insisted on better Career Training and Education Programs. I initiated a District wide Budget Advisory Committee which recommends areas of savings and efficiencies to absorb the staggering state budget reductions to higher education.

I voted to keep KOCE a Public Broadcast Station, and also authored the motion protecting Goldenwest College from big box development. I am proud to have earned the support and endorsement of my neighbors, community leaders, students, college faculty and staff.

I take this job seriously; I listen to my constituents, and I have initiated specific changes to improve the District's leadership and programs. I ask for your vote to carry on my efforts as your Trustee charting a course through this unprecedented financial period.
