Defend Adventure PlaygroundSince 1977, Adventure Playground has created challenging programs for children to explore and learn in an environment once naturally available, but now virtually nonexistent. Adventure Playground, or "A.P"., is an enclosed area dedicated for children to develop, stir their imaginations and encompass the benefits of free and natural play. Activities found in AP include climbing, exploring, jumping and crawling, use of imagination to create fun with our challenging play structures and wood forts. There is also a water slide and "mud pit" for kids to play and get messy in the summer, and year round fort building in the builder's corner with hand tools. This living playground is constantly changing and always supervised by trained and friendly staff when open. Unfortunately, the City decided not to keep AP open after a major remodel and facility addition at University Community Park. AP is an important part to the unique development and education to Irvine's children and the thousands of annual visitors. It is one of my goals to re-open Adventure Playground.
