As Co-Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Interfaith Coalition for the Environment, I have worked with governments and civic groups across Orange County, learning how to build coalitions and achieve results. My husband Gary and our daughter Morgan share my passion for community service. We need community leaders who put the interests of all Tustin residents, including children and seniors, as well as business first. With nearly two decades of civic and volunteer experience and service and a deep commitment to the future well-being of Tustin, I am the best qualified candidate to lead our city through these tough times. COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts: Member Tustin Preservation Conservancy: Member Tustin Ranch Extreme Bootcamp: As a member of Extreme Bootcamp, attending classes at Community Parks throughout Tustin, I frequently see areas that need improvement in our parks, areas where Tustin can cut costs without cutting corners. For instance, the majority of the parks that I visit (and there are a lot!) are over-watered. The city could save thousands of dollars, just by reducing the amount of water these areas receive. Member, Aldersgate United Methodist Church I have been a member of AUMC since 1999 and the Chair of the Environmental Ministries Committee since 2004. As Chair, I have coordinated the annual Earth Day Service, Blessing of the Animals, Nature Hikes each Spring, among other events. I also serve on the Church Council. Orange County Interfaith Coalition for the Environment, Tustin, California: Currently serving as Co-Chair on the Board of Directors. Liaison between OCICE and other environmental groups and interfaith groups, as well as leading on-going fundraising and educational activities. I have served as Chair of the Caring for Creation conference planning committee since 2004, hosting such noted keynote speakers as Julia Butterfly Hill and Bill McKibben, and attracting over 250 participants to the conference. El Dorado Homeowners Association, Tustin, California: Served as Architectural Review Chair and Editor of bi-monthly newsletter Gymnastics Team Parents Organization, Baltimore, Maryland: Served as President and Recording Secretary; led on-going gymnastics competitions as fundraising activities for the team. Recreation and Parks Council, Owings Mills, Maryland: Recording Secretary PTO, Owings Mills, Maryland: Served on the Parent Teacher Organization from 1992-1996 at Owings Mills Elementary School and Deerpark Middle School. EDUCATION Catonsville Community College, Baltimore, Maryland: Business Administration Studies Irvine Valley College, Irvine, California: On-going studies of graphic arts, desk-top publishing, and web design. |
