Only candidate who pledges to not take car allowance or city benefits. Vision for promoting economic growth in Anaheim.First, in this economic climate with so many suffering, I am the only candidate who has pledged to not take the car allowance offered to Anaheim City Councilmembers. Additionally, I promise to accept neither the city pension nor the health benefits offered by the City of Anaheim. The economic crisis is the major issue facing us. This is true everywhere to some degree, but Anaheim must promote smart economic growth and prepare for future growth. When economic activity resumes, Anaheim should be in position to take advantage of it. Our policies in city government should help and not hinder this growth. If some business is deciding where to bring their business and jobs in Orange County, let's make it easy for them to make the right choice -- Anaheim. The best way to do this is to make Anaheim more business friendly. Anaheim is already naturally attractive because of what the city is, but we can accentuate its attractiveness. We should seek to make part of Anaheim an enterprise zone. We should also look at being creative with providing businesses sufficient incentive to choose us -- whether this be through breaks with utilities or whatever careful analysis reveals to be the creative solution that works best. We must also be vigilant about continuing to improve downtown Anaheim's image. In this way we help assure businesses of our commitment to the area. The Five Points Area, historical zones and renovation of Anaheim High school are positive examples of the improvements that help revitalize the area and which will subsequently bring quality businesses to the area. |
