• Three grandchildren attend Newport-Mesa public schools: Davis K-6 Magnet School; Ensign Intermediate; Newport Harbor High School.

• Past PTA President: Newport Elementary, Ensign Intermediate, Newport Harbor High School and Harbor Council.

• Recipient: PTA Honorary Service Award; three Continuing Awards; National Honorary Life; two Golden Oaks; Legislative Hero in Education; California YMCA Ernie Chapman Award for Outstanding Service to Youth(2010)

• Elected member, California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly since 1986 by Orange County School Board members.

• Marian Bergeson Award - recognition as the Outstanding School Board Member in Orange County.
