In 2006, the voters of Westminster and Midway City elected Tyler Diep to his first 4-year term. Running as a fiscal conservative who is oppose to higher taxes and fees on sewage and trash collection rates, Tyler placed 2nd in a crowded field of 5 candidates to win a seat on this important governing body. Director Diep previously served as Vice Chairman of the Westminster Traffic Commission and was an Advisory Commissioner in the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Tyler Diep has a rare distinction of also serving as Councilman from the City of Westminster. Previously, Tyler was also a legislative assistant in the California State Assembly. He is currently a Senior Advisor to the California State Board of Equalization. Director Diep and his family resettled in Southern California from Vietnam in 1991. Determined to be a responsible citizen in his new adopted country, Tyler joined the Boy Scouts of America movement and immersed himself in many community service activities. Heavily involved with campus activism during his college years, Tyler was selected by his peers as President Pro Tem of the student body council, which oversees an annual budget of nearly $20 million. He currently holds a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from California State University, San Diego. |
