Restore Fiscal Intergrity to City GovernmentBy Randal "Randy" BressetteCandidate for Council Member; City of Laguna Hills | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
As a retired U.S. Navy Officer, I know pride, integrity and honor. I represent you on our City Council having those personal values, while having the privilege of serving you as Mayor. Over the past eighteen months, there has been a wind of change in our City Council. A change that saw a three-member majority vote for reducing our Sheriff protection by two deputies while at the same time paying out management bonuses. The three-member majority voted to block my motion to publish an accurate, complete and transparent disclosure of salaries and compensation. The three-member majority also voted to block a necessary, immediate change to the Purchasing and City Manager Ordinances that would have prevented future abusive purchases like the $60,000 automobile that the city manager bought himself. My 35 years of finance and taxation expertise brings sound financial knowledge to the city council. I am the only member of the city council, and the only candidate in this election, with these strong financial credentials. Along with Supervisor John Moorlach, I recognized the reckless investing by then Orange County Treasurer Bob Citron and I forewarned the City Council in 1994 against investing in the investment pool that bankrupted Orange County. This year I pressed for a refinance of the City's bonds, saving Laguna Hills $1,000,000 in interest payments. I will continue to work for financial integrity in Laguna Hills every day. |
