Randal Bressette is a founding member of the Laguna Hills City Council, first elected concurrent with the vote for incorporation in March 1991, and helped establish the small, efficiently run, fiscally sound government Laguna Hills' enjoys today. He has served as the City's Mayor in 1996, 2001 and 2005, and is currently serving as Mayor in 2010.

Mayor Bressette sits on the City's Financial Audit Committee, Civic Center Management Committee, is the City's representative to the Orange County Public Library Board of Advisors and the GMA 10 Technical Advisory Committee. He is also the city's Alternate Member to the Southern California Association of Governments.

As Mayor in 1996, he served as Chairman of the Laguna Hills Community Center Planning Committee, setting the groundwork for the construction of the highly popular and award-winning Laguna Hills Community Center and Sports Complex. He served as the City's alternate member to the El Toro Reuse Planning Agency during the fight against an international airport at El Toro.

In addition to his duties as a Mayor, Bressette serves in a variety of state and local leadership positions. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger named Mayor Bressette to the California Veterans Board, of which he served as Vice-Chair. Before serving on this Board, he served as a member of the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) for ten years, two years as Chairman. During his service on LAFCO, Mayor Bressette made certain both our north and west communities were annexed into Laguna Hills city boundaries. He has served as a member of the League of California Cities Revenue and Taxation Committee and the Orange County League Executive Steering Committee. Following the Orange County Bankruptcy, Mayor Bressette was significantly influential in achieving changes to the financial policies of local governments, effectively preventing such financial mismanagement from occurring again.

A retired U.S. Navy Reserve Chief Warrant Officer, Mayor Bressette and his family are 21-year residents of Laguna Hills. Mayor Bressette, and his wife Mav, are active in their community, schools, church, and scouting. He strongly influenced the establishment of the Laguna Hills AYSO Region 1422 in the spring of 2002, which along with the Laguna Hills Sports Complex brought our youth soccer program closer to our homes. Mayor Bressette and his wife, Mav, are partners in a financial planning practice in Costa Mesa. Their son, Matt, after attending Valencia, La Paz and Laguna Hills High School, earned his undergraduate degree at UCLA and is currently a graduate student at USC.

Mayor Bressette is vigorously committed to improving the public safety, and continuing the good government practices and high quality of life that Laguna Hills residents have long cherished.
