Connie is a native of Southern California, and has lived in Huntington Beach since 1991. Given her background in biology, and since she did research at Bolsa Chica as a graduate student, she focused her community involvement on the protection of this vital Huntington Beach resource.

Since 1991 Connie has been a full time Biology Professor at Cerritos Community College. She has taught anatomy and physiology, and currently teaches biology courses for science majors and non-majors as well as botany. In addition to her teaching responsibilities she is also the Chair of the Biology Department.

Connie was President of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust from 1994-1996, and was just elected to that position again this summer. Her interest in land use issues in Huntington Beach caused her to run for City Council in 1998. In that election she lost to an incumbent by 133 votes! Coming so close to victory in 1998, spurred her to run again in 2000. She was elected, and served from 2000-2004, and as Mayor in 2003.

Connie decided not to run for re-election in 2004 due to family responsibilities, however those have lessened now and Connie has decided to run once again.

In 2009 Connie served on the Centennial Committee, and organized the activities for the month of April that centered on celebrating the wonderful outdoor resources we have in Huntington Beach. Connie has also been on the board of the Shipley Nature Center, and is a member of the Friends of the Library, Huntington Beach Art Center, and the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center.
