We Deserve a Better Future.

By Alfredo Amezcua

Candidate for Mayor; City of Santa Ana

This information is provided by the candidate
"I grew up, raised a family and own a small business in Santa Ana. I have more than 30 years of proven public service in education, business, youth services and community empowerment. I have the knowledge and experience to reverse the years of mismanagement and lack of leadership that plagues our community. As your mayor, I pledge to always put Santa Ana first."

Alfredo Amezcua

We Deserve a Safer City.

Santa Ana has the highest rate of violent crime in the county, including rampant graffiti and citywide gang violence. We need to reverse the current crime trends and make our city a safe place to live, work and visit.

We can make Santa Ana safer by developing and implementing a comprehensive plan between the five key city partners: Government, Educational Institutions, Business, Residents, and Non-Profits. This plan will create four Public Safety Districts bolstering accountability, re-creating community policing and providing a more efficient and effective collaborative structure that will mobilize our entire community. Creating a safety city is our most urgent priority.

We Deserve Better Jobs and Greater Economic Progress

Santa Ana has the highest unemployment rate in Orange County. We must do a better job attracting and retaining business providing quality jobs. Santa Ana, the heart of the County, must utilize its strengths, including a nearby top-ranked research university, an airport and a hard-working population with strong ties to Latin America and Asia. We must offer technical training and promote English-language literacy programs that give our workers the skills necessary to compete in today's global economy. Our city government must openly discuss Economic Impact Reports when contracts, projects and business plans are submitted to the City Council for approval. We must develop tax credit incentive programs for employers hiring our residents, and must increase our partnership with local unions. Partnering with businesses, unions, and residents will create economic prosperity.

We Deserve Better Education Opportunities

Santa Ana has the highest drop-out rate and the lowest performing schools in the County. Our city must aggressively invest and participate i providing short and long-term educational opportunities to our youth and residents. Educating the next generation requires the involvement of the entire community to provide the tools necessary to foster a well-developed workforce. Our city must be an advocate to bring much needed resources to assist all of the school districts serving our residents. This partnership will enhance opportunities for our students to attend college, Universities or trade schools ensuring an educated community. A partnership that we have never had before will make education a priority.
