Candidate for
Treasurer/Tax Collector; County of Monterey

I believe in efficient government, transparency, and accountability. This is why I am running for Monterey County Treasurer/Tax Collector. In these critical economic times our county government must demonstrate the leadership necessary to adjust to the "new normal", the way that our families and businesses have done. If elected, I will accomplish four objectives:

First, I will conduct a full report on why the office lost your tax dollars with the collapse of Lehman Brothers and Washington Mutual and will implement processes and procedures to ensure it never happens again.

Second, I will reduce the average cost per employee in the department from its current level of $95,460.

Third, I will introduce customer satisfaction measures into all of our tax collection operations. I will never forget that our customer is Monterey County taxpayer.

Fourth, I will work with our educational professionals to establish a financial education outreach program in our local schools.
