Monterey County, CA | November 2, 2010 Election |
The Budget Today and TomorrowBy Alan CohenCandidate for Councilmember; City of Pacific Grove | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The financial stability of Pacific Grove remains on the top of everyones agenda.Pacific Grove has a balanced budget for this fiscal year, however in these economic conditions our expenditures are expected to outpace our revenue stream in the coming fiscal years. We have to look at reducing expenditures without reducing our level of service to our residents. As your Councilmember, I have had to make tough decisions regarding our budget along with the rest of the council. Our decisions resulted in saving the city over 300 thousand dollars contracting and merging with the Monterey Fire Department without loss of quality service. Shared services with the City of Carmel with our Police Dept. which has improved services such as traffic enforcement. Contracting shared service with the Monterey Planning Department increasing our level of service and improving plan check and inspection times. We must explore other cost saving measures. Your council is working and moving forward for the community. |
