Member, Board of Directors; Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District; Division 5

As a lifelong resident of the San Gabriel Valley, Bryan has resided in Azusa, West Covina, and Baldwin Park, where he currently lives. As the son of immigrant parents from Mexico, Bryan Urias is the first in his family to attend college. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Prior to that, Bryan received an Associate's Degree in Social & Behavioral Science from Citrus College in Glendora.

Bryan's public service began when he interned for then Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis. Bryan was later hired by Solis and served as her Field Representative for four years until Solis was selected by President Obama to serve as his Secretary of Labor. During this transition period, Bryan began working on Judy Chu's campaign for Congress. After the election, Bryan joined Congresswoman Judy Chu's team as her Senior Field Deputy.

Bryan has dedicated his time to community service, especially in his home city of Baldwin Park. In 2009, Bryan was appointed to the Baldwin Park Housing Commission where he served as its Chair, and he currently serves as a member of the Baldwin Park Planning Commission.

Bryan has received various recognitions for his community service. In 2008, he was recognized as Democrat of the Year for the 57th Assembly District by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party. Similarly, the City of Duarte recognized Bryan's service and commitment to the city during his tenure with then Congresswoman Solis.

In 2010, Bryan decided to be a candidate for the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District because of his work on water and environmental policy at the federal level. Bryan's work over the last several years with local, state and federal officials to improve and protect the environment, along with his strong commitment to the community, has helped shape his priorities. Bryan wants to ensure a sustainable and clean water supply, while at the same time look for ways to reinvest resources in order to create good paying jobs for residents during these tough economic times.
