"Schneider is the easy standout," wrote the LA Times in their endorsement of Alan Schneider for Superior Court Judge Office Number 117. They went on to describe him as a "master of the courtroom."

Alan Schneider is a prosecutor who has dedicated his career to seeking justice for the residents of Los Angeles County and protecting the public from crime, giving a voice to crime victims, upholding the integrity of our court system, and ensuring due process for the accused so that the innocent are not wrongly convicted. Alan is overwhelmingly supported by those who have the greatest stake in the justice system. He is endorsed by more than 100 Superior Court Judges, County District Attorney Steve Cooley, County Public Defender Michael Judge, hundreds of police officers and prosecutors, and every practicing defense attorney he has opposed on a murder trial.

The Times explained that Alan's reputation for honesty and fairness is why he would make a great judge: "The reason to pick the good prosecutors -- and Schneider is one of the best -- is that they understand the mechanics, as well as the principles, of justice. They understand how to make a courtroom work fairly as well as efficiently."

Alan has tried more than 100 jury trials, including 40 homicides. He has prosecuted thousands of criminals for offenses including domestic violence, sexual assault, robbery, kidnapping, torture, and fraud. For the last 7 years, he has been assigned to the Hardcore Gang division where he has specialized in prosecuting complex murder cases against gang member defendants who pose the greatest threat to the public's safety and the quality of life in our communities.

Alan began his legal career as an associate at Wiley Rein, one of the largest and most influential law firms in Washington D.C. At Wiley, Alan gained valuable experience in a wide range of practice areas including complex civil litigation, white collar criminal, administrative law, and government affairs. Alan joined the firm after attending law school at the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class.

Prior to law school Alan worked for Close-Up, a non partisan, non-profit educational foundation, where he taught high school students about democracy by using Washington, D.C. as a living classroom. As a lawyer, Alan has continued to teach. Since 2005, Alan has served as a guest lecturer on Evidence for the Trial Advocacy Honors Program at Southwestern Law School. He has also lectured to prosecutors, police officers, and domestic violence counselors on subjects such as the Law of Homicide, Gangs and Gang Issues in Domestic Violence Prosecutions.

Alan has all the qualities we look for in a judge. He is fair, ethical, and reasonable. He has the experience to preside over trials, the decisiveness to make tough decisions, the judgment to make the right decision, and the compassion to be merciful when appropriate. If elected, Alan Schneider will ensure that justice is served in all the cases before him, and by his rulings and demeanor, instill public confidence in the justice system.
