Transparency and Open Public DialogueBy Kevin M. DeMeraCandidate for Governing Board Member; Lowell Joint Elementary School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The need for transparency and open-ended public dialogue with the school board is essential to our children's success. Immediately upon election, I will seek to rectify this problem at LJSD.All public school board meeting agenda items should be placed on the LJSD website prior to the meeting. All meeting minutes should also be posted within 24 hours following a meeting. Public questions and discussion should occur both at the beginning and end of each meeting in order to address topics or ideas that may arise during the meeting. Public comments should not have a time limit placed on them. If parents or teachers have something important to say and they are willing to take the time to speak, I am more than willing to sit there engaged as long as it takes. We must return to having a positive environment that promotes open dialogue and transparency. Elect me on November 2nd and I will immediately call for a substantial increase in both. |
