|
John D'Agostini is a fourth generation resident of El Dorado County who is committed to protecting our community values and rural lifestyle for future generations of families. John graduated from local schools and enjoyed a wholesome childhood filled with fishing at the local pond, hiking, 4-wheeling and numerous other adventures while living in El Dorado County. As a child, John remembers the feeling of having the local Deputy stop by to talk with and come to know all of neighborhood kids and their parents. As our next Sheriff, John's goal will be to bring back those practices of partnership between our deputies and our community. After graduating from high school, John learned the construction trade from 1983 to 1994, soon earning his General Contractor's license. He ultimately started and operated his own construction company building homes and providing jobs primarily in El Dorado County. Pursuing a lifelong interest, John worked his way through the Sacramento County Sheriff's Academy and was recruited by then Amador County Sheriff Ken Blake and became a full time Deputy Sheriff there in 1994. Throughout his career, John gained valuable experience serving in numerous positions including Cities Deputy, Chief Deputy Coroner, Detective, SWAT Team Member, SWAT Sniper, Crime Specific Officer, Narcotics Investigator, Armorer, Rangemaster and Firearms Instructor. In 2001, John was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and began supervision of the Narcotics Investigations Unit. In 2003, John expanded his range of law enforcement experience when he accepted his duties as an Investigator with the Amador County District Attorney's Office. There, John was responsible for the investigation of complex criminal cases and he successfully managed broad scale homicide investigations from beginning to end. He went on to develop new programs and policies to streamline law enforcement bureaucracy and improve public safety. As a leader in law enforcement, John D'Agostini was appointed second in command for the newly formed Amador County Combined Narcotics Enforcement Unit (ACCNET) where he currently manages and oversees daily unit operations. John's grandfather served on the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors in the 1960s. His father served as a Pioneer Union School District Trustee where John, his brothers, and John's four children and five nieces and nephews all attended and are still attending kindergarten through 8th grade. Following in his family's footsteps of serving the community, John ran for and was elected to the Pioneer Union School District Board of Trustees in 2003 and was reelected to that office in 2007. John continues to serve on the school board where he has fought hard to balance difficult budgets with a steady reduction in revenue and believes every child deserves a positive and safe learning environment. John is an active member of the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, National Rifle Association, California Narcotics Officers Association, California District Attorney Investigator's Association and the California School Board Association. In addition, John has coached little league baseball, girl's softball and boy's basketball. John continues to be active in the local community through his involvement in numerous cultural and civic events. John lives with his wife Janine in Mount Aukum, in a home they designed and built. They have been happily married for 23 years and are the proud parents of four children. They plan to see the next generations of their family continue to live in El Dorado County and have a vested interest in preserving the rural charm, quality of life and safety for families in our county. In addition to all he gives back to his community and county, John continues to work toward improving local law enforcement and public safety. With his extensive experience in law enforcement, John can improve the Sheriff's Office and provide our citizens with the service and quality of life they expect and deserve and asks that you support him in his quest for the position of Sheriff of El Dorado County. |
