  • We only need government to provide those services we cannot do for ourselves; e.g., it's not practical for each of us to maintain the road in front of our home.
  • Government exists only to serve us, not vice versa.
  • Government, at all levels, must live within its means, just as our families must do.
  • Direct and indirect taxes (of all kinds) now constitute the largest segment of working families' budget; this is wrong and unsustainable.
  • Borrowing to support today's activities only burdens our children and grandchildren.
  • Public employees deserve good pay and reasonable benefits, but they must not be compensated at levels higher than comparable jobs in the private sector.
  • Citizens must be encouraged to participate fully in their government's deliberations and actions; they must be treated respectfully, and government officials must listen.
  • Voters must cast their ballots on the basis of what's best for them, and not blindly in response to political parties or special interests.
  • it is the responsibility of parents to teach their children those cultural and moral values that sustain our society; not government, not teachers, not politicians.
