I have been privileged to serve on the Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District Board for 14 years. I have lived here since 1982 and my daughter swam with the Dolphins, played basketball at Christ the King, and played PHBA softball. My family continues to be involved in District programs. I am a Podiatrist in Rossmoor. I have been a board member of Martinez Chamber of Commerce, AAUW, and United Cerebral Palsy, and a long term 4H leader. The Sprayground was my brainchild my first year as a Director. I have expanded our Child Care programs and made them more accessible to working parents. My 23 years at Rossmoor working with seniors enables me to truly understand how important our Senior Center and its services are to our community. I make decisions at PHRPD as a business person, not a bureaucrat. For example, if a proposal lacks competitive bids and is not cost effective, I will not vote for it. I always remember that I represent you and the money I spend is yours. I do not rubber stamp recommendations; I evaluate each vote carefully and ask the hard questions: Is it in our budget? Is it consistent with the District's mission? I study the issues and prepare beforehand, always remembering that I want the District to get the best value for our money. I have worked diligently to be a good Director through many lean budget years. Now that Measure E has passed, our work to implement the Building Program has just started. I intend to see all four promised projects delivered to you. The District will benefit from my leadership because I am budget conscious, understand the past and how to move to the future. I never forget that these are your Parks, facilities, and programs and I work for you. |
