As a current member of the Orinda City Council and past mayor, I have worked diligently for the betterment of our community.

I have lived in Orinda for 32 years, serving in volunteer or elected capacities continuously. I advocate educational excellence and served for nine years on the Orinda Union School District Board, and one year as Miramonte Parents' Club president; I believe I provide an important link between the City and its schools. As a councilmember, I have worked at improving traffic safety, beautifying the downtown and preparing for emergencies. In 2004, I was honored as Orinda Citizen of the Year.

My approach in public service is to maintain a respectful attitude toward all participants in the process, foster open and responsive communication, and focus intently on fiscal responsibility. I believe that we succeed in maximizing the quality of life in Orinda only through a collaborative effort partnering community, schools and business.

Orinda faces major challenges, including failing infrastructure and declining revenues. My promise is to help establish priorities to optimally allocate scarce resources while involving all interested parties in the community.

I would be honored to continue serving on the Orinda City Council.
