Candidate Ballot Statement

By Dean Orr

Candidate for Council Member; City of Orinda

This information is provided by the candidate
Ten years ago, like many Orinda families before us, my wife and I moved here to start our family. We have enjoyed actively serving in the community, its schools, and local government. Orinda has truly become our home. We look forward to spending many more years in Orinda, raising our children and appreciating all that this community offers.

As current chair and two-term Planning Commission member I promoted an open process where applicants are treated with respect and projects are reviewed in a timely and efficient process. I look forward to the opportunity of sharing this experience and leadership as a member of the City Council.

As a councilmember my priority will be to foster greater input from residents about the issues facing Orinda. I will strive for open and active dialogue within the community, and I will help ensure that the Council's decisions are balanced, sensible and transparent.

I care deeply about the Orinda community, our excellent schools, and the built and natural environments that make this an unparalleled place to live and enjoy as a family. Above all else, I appreciate the quality of life this city provides. As a member of the Orinda City Council, I will welcome the challenge of protecting these assets while encouraging new opportunities for smart growth and sustainable development in our town.
