Ken Chew was elected to the Moraga Town Council in November 2006. As a Council Member, Ken serves as one of two Council representatives to the Contra Costa County Mayors' Conference, Saint Mary's College, the Moraga Country Club Negotiating Team, the Emergency Preparedness Committee, and the League of California Cities. He represents Moraga at the League's East Bay Division, serves as the Council liaison to the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), the Moraga Orinda Fire District (MOFD), and as the alternate liaison to the Acalanes Union High School District (AUHSD).

Ken was appointed by the Contra Costa County Mayors' Conference in 2007 to serve on the County Hazardous Materials Commission, and was appointed by the President of the League of California Cities in 2008 to serve on the Transportation, Communication, and Public Works Policy Committee.

Prior to his election to the Town Council, Ken was appointed to the Moraga Planning Commission in February 2003, and then reappointed to serve two more terms in February 2004 and February 2006. Ken is an active citizen of Moraga and its greater community. He has served on the Acalanes Union High School District's (AUHSD) Measure B Citizen's Oversight Committee from 2004 to 2008, and on the Board of Directors of the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Contra Costa (CAPC) from 2004 to 2007.

Ken is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is also a graduate of the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at the Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government. Ken is a Registered Civil Engineer (P.E.). He currently manages the Project Management and Control Unit at the California Department of Transportation in Oakland.

On December 9, 2009, Ken was elected Mayor by the Moraga Town Council.

Ken and his family - wife Aly and sons Justin and Oliver - have lived in Moraga since 2001, and he is an avid enthusiast of his children's competitive soccer activities.
